Škoda hits record sales in 2016

Last year SKODA UK achieved a record-breaking 80,372 new car registrations in the UK, which was a best-ever annual figure and up 7.6 per cent on 2015 (74,692). The 2016 total increased the brand’s UK market share to 2.98 per cent compared to 2.84 per cent in 2015.

Every vehicle in our multi award-winning model range played its part in the success.

Octavia continued to prove its pulling power by recording its best ever UK sales; 23,068 cars were registered, up two per cent on 2015. More than 20 per cent of Octavia models were vRS derivatives, an increase of 18 per cent compared to 2015 and proof that the country’s passion for high-performance models is as strong as ever.

Our flagship Superb continues to attract new-car buyers; demand for the model was up an impressive 73.2 per cent compared to the previous year, at 10,173 registrations, to secure the model’s best-ever sales in the UK.

Last year was also the best yet for the Yeti since its UK launch in 2009; the model achieved 13,689 registrations – up three per cent on 2015.
Demand for ŠKODA’s multi-award winning Fabia continued to grow, with 20,522 sales in 2016, up 8.5 per cent on 2015. ŠKODA also sold 4,826 Rapid and 8,140 Citigo models in 2016.

Commenting on the record performance, Duncan Movassaghi, Director of ŠKODA UK, said: “These figures demonstrate the phenomenal momentum ŠKODA is enjoying in the UK. Interest in ŠKODA cars is at a record high.

“Customers have long recognised ŠKODA as a brand that delivers great quality and outstanding value for money.  Now, with strong design featured on our new models, we are attracting more new customers than ever before.”
