Double win for ŠKODA at Auto Express awards

ŠKODA has picked up two Auto Express honours. The new Superb has its first UK award, Family Car of the Year, and the Citigo has won its fourth consecutive Auto Express City Car of the Year award.

The new Superb has only just gone on sale in the UK, yet it has already been recognised for its impressive blend of sharp-edged styling, high equipment levels, huge interior space and great value.

Steve Fowler, Auto Express editor-in-chief, said: “The Superb now truly lives up to its name. It offers the best combination of all the elements families look for in a car: practicality, low running costs, great technology and loads of space, but what seals the deal is that it is now a seriously stylish car that you’ll be proud to have parked on your drive.”

The Citigo has been a firm favourite with Auto Express since its launch, having won the coveted Car of the Year title in 2012. Despite tough opposition in what has become a fiercely competitive sector, the judges agreed the Citigo still stood head and shoulders above its rivals.

Steve Fowler said: “The Citigo takes to the crowded urban jungle like a duck to water. Compact dimensions, excellent visibility and an eager three-cylinder engine help you make the most of gaps in traffic and park in tight spots.”

Collecting the awards for ŠKODA UK, Martin Barrow-Starkey (right), Head of Sales Operations, added: “These awards recognise the breadth of our amazing product range, from the Citigo to the Superb. We’re delighted that Auto Express continues to regard the Citigo as the best in its class, and the first win for the Superb in the UK is especially important to us.”
